Dali Courtyard in Beijing

Bit confused why this in Lonely Planet - went for lunch and it was COMPLETELY empty. I left rather than have an awkward lunch alone in the deserted courtyard. Maybe the food is good - but if I try again maybe I’ll go in the evening!

We were a bit confused from our visit. The restaurant has received a lot of good reviews from reviewers here and elsewhere, however, when me and a friend visited, we were met with disinterested waiters and bland food. The fish were even overcooked. I think this place is fine for tourists that don't want the hassle of ordering from menus, however if you want really good food, you can go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience. Great food in the hutongs. Not cheap (count 200 RMB per adult) but worth every penny. A must-taste in Beijing, also with kids.

Very nice restaurant in a traditional hutong house. If your overcome the low-key entrance, inside you'll find a cosy courtyard. Good fixed menu (which is an advantage if you are not good at choosing in a Chinese menu) and not very expensive

Very good food, good wine, good price. Was a little worried when I first walked in, didnt realize we didnt get to choose the menu, but they did a great job selecting the food, better than I would have.

A must everytime I recieve visits in Beijing and just when I want a relaxing dinner. Yunnan food it´s my favorite chinese food and among the wide variety of yunnanese restaurants in Beijing, Dali is my favorite. The menu is fixed, you don´t order, they just bring dishes, so as bigger is the table, wider variety of dishes you will try. They don´t change the menu as often as I would like, so it´s not an everyday restaurant. Just for occasions. The environment is charming but the clients are mainly "laowai". This can make you feel that you´re in a kind of foreigners ghetto instead of on a true chinese environment but I strongly recommend.

The food is AMAZING!! Loved it loved it loved it. It's spicy. I'm not one for spicy but the flavors are just incredible.

Acrobatics show

Very bad experience. We as a family of four visited this restaurant in November 2016. The price was at the top end of a good courtyard restaurant but the food quality was below average. We stayed in Beijing for 10 days for our holiday and we tried many different restaurants. This is the worst experience we had. The atmosphere and quality of their food do not justify their price.

Beautiful location with carefully prepared food using the freshest ingredients. A delicious variety of dishes, varying according to seasonal availability. Set menu only but well thought out.

A must try for local dishes in a cosy hutong and courtyard.

Super cute courtyard restaurant, hidden gem. Fixed menu course meal was delicious. Perhaps not aggressively local, aka very “accessible” Chinese food. Tasty, great service, English spoken, good wine selection. Oh, and did I mention—super CUTE courtyard with candle-light both indoor and outdoor seating. Cute!!
